Norfolk and Norwich University

Meeting the winter demand

Norwich University hospital approached us because they needed extra capacity from January to April to make sure patients in acute need were seen quickly and safely during times of increased demand.

We provided a three-trailer facility that attached directly to the main building, providing 3 extra treatment rooms, a dirty utility area, extra waiting space and much needed patient toilet facilities.

Chris Carney, associate medical director of Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust said; “This will help to take pressure off the hospital, so their staff can focus on looking after people who really need their support - those who are seriously ill or injured.”

The Result

1 in 5 patients were referred out of A&E to the mobile urgent care unit – around 20 each day
