New mobile decontamination unit for Scottish hospital Press release

Borders General Hospital becomes the 24th NHS organisation to enlist the help of Cheshire-based EMS Healthcare, a leading provider of mobile clinical facilities which relieve hospital capacity

The unit will be installed during the refurbishment of NHS Borders’ current endoscopy decontamination department. It will provide the hospital with the capacity to reprocess up to 120 scopes per day – supporting the staff to maintain reprocessing services without disruption.

Jenny Anderton, Business Development Manager at EMS Healthcare, outlined the crucial importance of mobile clinical facilities in a presentation today to the annual scientific meeting of the Central Sterilising Club in Newcastle.

Jenny Anderton told the conference: “We know from our experience with so many Trusts across the UK, that mobile units offer a flexible and accessible solution, at a time of enormous pressure on the NHS.”

“We are proud to work alongside colleagues in the NHS and among private providers, as they strive to deliver high quality services to patients in their communities. Above all, we want to help them bring care closer to home.”

Long-standing relationships with NHS Trusts are paramount. For the last four years, EMS Healthcare and Cantel UK have supported the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust with a mobile decontamination solution, during construction of the Trust’s new endoscope decontamination unit.
