Mobile cancer screening units
Mobile cancer screening units
Working together to detect cancer early
Supporting the NHS' Long Term Plan, our mobile cancer screening units are addressing health inequalities by taking services directly into the heart of communities, helping to diagnose cancer early and improve patient outcomes.
We're proud to partner with the NHS and independent providers to increase uptake for screening and delivering health education programmes in convenient settings.
Innovations to support with early cancer detection
Community vehicle
HTM compliant capacity with quick and easy set-up, a suitable solution for reaching into communities and allowing for multiple moves per day.
High-capacity solution
This unit can increase capacity for screening appointments within the hospital estate or out in the community.
Client testimonial
We know from speaking to men that some may have reservations about going to see their doctor and they’re a bit anxious about going to the hospital. In this situation, we’ve taken the message out into the community, so a mobile unit is invaluable.

Mobile clinic providing screening in the community
1 in 8 men in the UK will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.
Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance and The Christie NHS Foundation Trust worked together to talk to men over the age of 45 about their risk of prostate cancer and offer PSA blood tests on board a mobile health clinic, #ThisVanCan.
We provided the van, a phlebotomist and identified locations to engage with the project's core demographic in accessible settings.
The project was supported by Prostate Cancer UK, BHA for Equality, Can-Survive UK, and the Caribbean and African Health Network.
Improving screening access for at-risk groups
Within 6 months, #ThisVanCan saw remarkable results:
men attended and appointment and had PSA blood tests
appointments were attended on board
men were referred on for suspected cancer

Delivering accessible cervical screening in community settings
Working alongside Cheshire and Wirral Partnership (CWP) NHS Foundation Trust, the Living Well Buses are helping to improve access to cervical screening by offering drop-in services in the heart of communities.
By making screening more accessible, these mobile clinics are helping to increase uptake and offer language interpretation to enable more people the opportunity to access the service.
We're proud to support the trust by proving the three self-drive units that continue to deliver essential health checks across the region.
